NIGHT 1
Six-Man Tag: The Vision + iShowSpeed
Speed will take some silly bump, because really why else is he there? But Jimmy will take the pin at the end of the day.
Unsanctioned Match: Jacob Fatu
I feel like with a different match, Trips could look at the sheets and the Vegas outlets, see what a heavy favorite Fatu is, and about face. But even the sheets won’t change this outcome. Nor should they: there’s a universe in which this is a dress rehearsal for Fatu’s future title run (and possibly a Mania ME next year).
Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan
La Primera has had a great run, and a long run too (since Wrestlepalooza in September of last year). But this feels like the magic combo of right place, right time, right opponent to move on… for now. I think Vaquer will still be in “the mix”, and probably isn’t quite due a cooling-off yet. But Mania is Liv’s night.
Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch
Becky should become the only three-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion in history (she’s already the only two-time champ). Still some meat on that bone with Bayley and Lyra (and possibly AJ still too). But Big Time Becks will hit the jackpot in Vegas.
Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Irresistible Forces
Weirdly enough, if the rumors that Nikki Bella wasn’t gonna be able to go were true, I would’ve picked Brie and TBD. First rule of picks: never pick against TBD unless you have a really good reason to… and I wouldn’t here. As booked though, it’s the Forces for sure.
Grudge Match: Gunther
Luckily for Seth, this doesn’t really do much for his stock… or Gunther’s, really. One of the rare matches where neither wrestler will really come out looking much better or worse in bookings, at least once a few weeks pass.
Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes
Now THIS is a finish I believe has been changed a dozen times, one that is being influenced by the sheets and socials and general chatter. All the TKO “heat” may we’ll have been a work, since EVERYTHING in wrestling could be a work. The alternative is somehow orchestrating a title reign for McAfee, a la David Arquette in WWE, and my heart just can’t take that.
NIGHT 2
BEEF: Oba Femi
Along with Jacob Fatu, Oba Femi is one that we could see on this grandest stage with an even bigger match than Lesnar next year. He’s been ready for said stage for a long time now, and it’s great that he’s finally getting his come-up.
Intercontinental Championship: Je’Von Evans
This would be the perfect time to really put Rusev front and center (because otherwise, why the hell did you even bring him back?!?), but instead it’ll be putting someone else over. Evans will impress in a match format more suited to him than anyone else, and he’ll go over accordingly.
Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley
I strongly feel like this is one of those feuds in which the challenger – whomever that ended up being – would go over. In this case, it’s Rhea. A continuation of hostilities between these two is extremely due after Mania too.
US Championship: Trick Williams
Ol’ Trick Willy needs something to make his main roster run legit. I feel like the win over Sami will do much more for that than the actual hardware will… but the hardware can’t hurt.
Grudge Match: Finn Balor, as The Demon
In The Demon getup, you’d need a special match (you hope) to dethrone that gimmick. Dominik sans title doesn’t cut the mustard. The match will be overbooked, but Finn will still make the pin. I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it… snoogins.
World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns lost his last two Maina MEs – one to Seth Rollins, and one to Cody Rhodes. There won’t be a third loss in a row here. Even with Reigns being a “part-timer”, he’ll still get his first taste of the World Heavyweight Championship to close the show.
